can we talk in private?

Thursday, 6 August, 2020 - 10:50 pm

For this week's #CONNECT10N, let's talk about something that is usually discussed in private.

What is the first thing a Jewish community is supposed to do upon its establishment? What is it that transforms it from a group of like minded families into a community? A synagogue? Two different synagogues? A Torah scroll? A school? A Kosher restaurant? A university?

While all of the above enhance and engender community life, there is something that takes precedence. A Mikvah.  A pristine special pool of water that will infuse your wedding, marriage and conception with purity.

A Mikvah redefines the rhythm of your relationship, painting layers of fire and water, passion and peace, romance and serenity. Invite the Divine into your marriage, uncovering the holiness and spirituality within the joy of intimacy.

  • WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT MIKVAH? Watch Chanie's class, Intimate Waters: The Secrets of Mikvah & Family Purity in Judaism
  • VOTE FOR HOUSTON'S MIKVAH! Many of you know that we are very passionate about the Mitzvah of Mikvah and its gift to Jewish marriage.... The Houston mikvah has been nominated as #1 for our local Mikvah! Please go on the album and vote in the comments for #1 on Facebook & Instagram!
  • PREGNANT? PREPARE FOR THE NEW ARRIVAL! Immediately upon checking into the hospital it is customary to hang a Shir Lamaalot in the room of the new mother and the newborn as a safeguard for the birth to proceed normally and easily and during the following days for mother and baby to survive and thrive for a long life. Also, education starts right away, the first thing that the child sees will be something holy in the hospital and the nursery. Printorder (they sell packs of five on Amazon) or contact us for a Shir La'maalot card. Know someone who is pregnant? Makes a great pre-baby gift!

BREAKING NEWS: We are breaking ground! We need your help to Pave the Way! As we prepare for the upcoming holidays, let's pave the way together to make a large outdoor plaza for outdoor services and programs for increased capacity and safety, keeping to the health guidelines at this time. We are all dedicated to serving our community - and now your support will help build a bright Jewish future, together. www.chabaduptown.org/pavetheway

Thank you to all those who have sponsored pavers and are part of making this dream a reality!
