My dear grandmother, Mrs. Guta Schapiro, mother of Rebbetzin Chiena Lazaroff passed away this morning, after contracting the coronavirus. She was laid to rest this afternoon at Old Montefoire Cemetary near the Rebbe's Ohel. We were lucky to be able to watch her funeral live online today.
Our family loved to visit her every year when we were in NY. She always made sure there were fresh baked cookies in her home for our children.
She was sharp, smart, and beautiful. But more than that, she was our Bubby.
Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren live all over the world, Many are Shluchim of the Rebbe. From Australia to Russia, from France to Texas. Her impact on the world over, will be eternal.
She was the daughter of Rabbi Peretz and Henya Chasha Mochkin (my great grandparents) and the wife of Rabbi Levi Yitzchok Schapiro (my Zaydie), OBM
May Hashem protect everyone at this time to stay healthy and safe and may we merit to be reunited with her and all of our loved ones at the coming of Moshiach NOW!
Good Shabbos,
Rabbi Chaim
