In other news...
- For the first time in our lives we won a raffle/auction! We attended the Chabad of Sugar Land Benefit Dinner and Chanie went "shopping" with Chinese auction raffle tickets and lo & behold 5 minutes after we left to get home for our babysitter we won an Aussie BBQ grill! (My father was so kind to bring it home for us). Its inauguration will take place today at our home in true Texas style Labor Day BBQ!
- Chabad Lubavitch Center on Fondren will once again bring Rabbi Faitel Lewin, a sofer from Brooklyn, N.Y., will be available to check mezuzos and tefillin from midday Monday, Sept. 25, through midday Thursday, Sept. 28. In order to accommodate all those who need items checked, please respond to this email, as well as the number of mezuzos and pairs of tefillin to be checked. According to halacha, mezuzos and tefillin should be checked twice every seven years. Some have the custom to inspect them annually - especially during the Days of Awe.
- We have added a great new feature to ChabadTexas.org! My.ChabadTexas.org will feature a Personal Calendar: Record your own personal events including birthdays, yahrtzeits and anniversaries -- all according to the Jewish calendar. Bonus: Calendar includes all of the Chabad center activities too - and you can email alerts for any event listed! Calendar Alerts: Schedule an email reminder to be sent in advance of the event. MP3 Downloads: Access thousands of audio classes, and download them to your iPod or other MP3 device. Subscription Manangement: Add yourself to Chabad Lubavitch Center's mailing list, and take advantage of the weekly and daily email newsletters from Chabad.org.
