As shocking as this sounds, I just experienced my first rodeo this week. Although I was born and raised in Houston, Texas, I only have vague memories of going to the livestock show, with endless walking looking at different kind of rabbits and wailing "Mooommmyyyy..... I wanna go home!" I do not remember the actual Rodeo. After moving back, we were never able to go as a family because of animal dander allergies, but, this year it worked out! What a delight! As the Baal Shem Tov teaches to learn lessons from all life experiences, the kids had a great time and discussed the lessons to learn from their experience:
- Have courage to do what seems hard
- The animal tries to veer you off, but you need to hold on
- Even when life seems very bumpy, winning means riding through and celebrating your endurance.
This Sunday, March 13 is the annual Houston Friendship Walk. Walk together to create an awareness for children with special needs. Together we are enabling The Friendship Circle to continue its program throughout the year.
You should be getting the Purim postcard in the mail, if you don't please let us know so we can add you to the list. We will host (& sponsor) six parties for you to choose from - but RSVP is required! Please log on now at www.chabaduptown.org/purimhour to let us know to expect you.
