Facebook's real friends

Thursday, 4 June, 2015 - 9:44 pm

If I could sum up the past 10 days in a phrase:

11425103_969452796420389_2826864063698422517_n.jpg#HoustonFlood: When Facebook helped total strangers become best of friends.

Finally a true Facebook-friend success story.

The amount of volunteers who have stepped up to the plate is astounding. This past Sunday, Chabad of Houston had 15 teams, 70 volunteers active on the ground in a grass roots effort to help in any way they can. All week has been a rotation of giving hearts volunteering for cleaning to cooking, from moving to soothing and everything in between!

The list is long and too many to list, but Jonathan Hersh and Zac Rose deserve a major shout out and Yasher koach, for working almost non-stop, helping our flood victims in so many ways.

A special thank to all those who partnered with Chabad to help the flood victims. You too can participate by clicking here. Read the Chabad of Houston Relief Blog here.

One poignant anecdote of his Jewish transformation in the army was when he went to interview to be an Army General assistant "I was explaining that I needed to not manipulate electricity from Friday sunset to Saturday nightfall, the General cuts me off and says 'Diamond, your hired! What's your problem?'"

Today was the kids last day of school. We look forward to a restful and fun packed summer for the kids. If you go on vacation, please let us know so we can have our minyan count down.
