We are now only a few weeks away from Pesach. Cleaning and preparing are happening in earnest. However, within the month of Pesach it is customary to also give
to the "Maos Chitim" fund of your local community. In the opening paragraph of the Haggadah recited at the Seder, we declare: "All who are hungry, let them come and eat."
In reality, however, most of the people who are hungry will not be standing in our dining rooms as we begin our Seder, waiting for the invitation. As such, in preparation for the Passover holiday, it is age-old Jewish tradition to contribute generously towards funds that ensure that indeed everyone who is in need has the necessary provisions for the holiday—food, matzah, wine, festive clothing, etc. This special Passover fund, originally intended to provide the poor with matzah, is known as ma'otchitim, "the wheat fund," or kimcha d'pischa, "Passover flour."
At this time we appeal to you to please join us in our campaign providing Pesach awareness and provisions to our local community at www.chabaduptown.org/donate.
Our seder is filling up! We would love for you to join us, but, we need you to RSVP right away so we can secure your spot. www.chabaduptown.org/seder

There are many special parts of this Shabbos!
- We bless the new month of Nissan with the recitation of the entire Tehillim, special prayer after the Torah reading and a farbrengen following the daytime services.
- We complete the book for Shemos (Exodus) with a declaration of Chazak!
- We take out and read from a second Torah, the Torah reading of Parah (Numbers 19) detailing the laws of the "Red Heifer". When the Holy Temple stood in Jerusalem, every Jew had to be in a state of ritual purity in time for the bringing of the Passover offering in the Temple.
