Kids have been home and can't wait for camp to begin. Oh, neither can their parents! :)
Sunday was "Father's day". My brother Yossi points out an interesting observation. On Mother's day, fathers spend time and takes children off of mothers hands for the day. On Father's day, fathers spend time and takes the children out for the day. American Yom Tovs at their best! In the Torah every day is Father's day!
PARSHA: Look, I’m Humble - It is easy to be humble when you have nothing to boast of. But Moses was humble, though he had much to boast about. As we all follow the news of the kidnapping situation in Israel, there is something more we can do. Let’s pledge a mitzvah, add a prayer and a good deed in for the merit of these three young yeshivah students. When doing a good deed, please have in mind their names:
- Yaakov Naftali ben Rachel Devorah
- Gilad Michael ben Bat Galim
- Eyal ben Iris Teshura
May our collective efforts yield positive results with their safe return home,Amen. Chabad has set up a special web page where readers can "pledge a mitzvah" on their behalf. More than 3,600 have participated so far. Take a minute and pledge a mitzvah today! #bringbackourboys!
Maxine Epstein wrote a beautiful book review of a new book "My Rebbe" by Rabbi Adin Even-Israel Steinsaltz. It appears in this weeks Jewish Herald Voice. She writes, "During the 40-plus years that the Rebbe led Chabad, he extended outreach activities and sent close-knit networks of emissaries (sh’luchim) to begin Chabad houses at more than 3,500 places worldwide. His vision was spiritual, his methods practical and his strength was based on Torah. His legacy is remarkable in that no scholar has been able to define how his system of accomplishments worked. He believed in decentralization of authority; yet, he had the wisdom to know how to use contemporary times to make a home for Chabad." Read the entire review here >
