Thousands tasted awesome chili, hundreds put on tefillin - at least one for the very first time, celebrating his1896788_10202376364544466_1746605122_n.jpgBar Mitzvah - and a great time was had by all at the Houston Kosher Chili Cookoff on Sunday... Remember - Keep Calm and Farbreng On!!!

Tomorrow is the first Friday of March, and you know what that means? That's right! Change your clocks to DST so you can be on time for Sunday Tefillin club and breakfast!

OK, OK, it also means... First Fridays for Young Professionals! Meet new friends and mingle with old friends over traditional Shabbos dinner and drinks!

The week's Shabbos kiddush we will celebrate the birth of Ruth Yaffa Shamooelian sponsored by her loving parents Ben & Regina, and brother Tzion Moshe! Come join us for an amazing Kiddush spread and the second annual Sidney Chenkin Memorial Vodka Tasting Challenge! :)

Not Hamantash dough, though! Our weekly Wednesday dinner, class and social this week will bake hamantashen and pack Mishloach manot packages to deliver to seniors.

  • Thursday, March 13: Fast of Esther, rescheduled because of Shabbos, begins at 6:23 am and ends at 7:52 pm. It is customary to give "Machtzis Hashekel", three coins in "half denomination", to charity on the afternoon of the Fast of Esther. See "Laws & Customs"for more.

On Purim we emphasize the importance of friendship and community by sending gifts of food, mishloach manot, to friends. The last weekend of March will the 6th Annual Intercollegiate Shabbaton!!! Join students from around Texas and beyond for Austin's annual Shabbat 500 by students for students and a complete Shabbaton!
