Hmm... How to describe it? Hard to pen the experience of the conference last week. How to describe the opportunity to rub shoulders (literally) with the over three thousand shluchim attending from around the world? Spending those few moments at the Ohel among other shluchim who dedicate their lives for the Rebbe's mission? Dancing with absolute chassidic joy in a sea of black? I don't know how to describe it. I do know that we have hit the pavement in Houston to continue the inspiration for the year. You may watch highlights of the closing banquet session on our website.
The weekend was filled with inspiration, information and camaraderie. But simultaneously there was a cloud hanging over the event with the knowledge that Hurricane Sandy had just caused so much havoc throughout the area. Click here to see the video that was shown at the Banquet about the heroic efforts of the Shluchim in the face of such destruction. Unfortunately, twenty of my fellow Shluchim in the NY-NJ area were hit with serious damage. Five Shluchim don't even know when they can return to their homes! The need is great, please consider doing your part at www.chabaduptown.org/hurricane.
As these lines are being written, our Twitter feeds, Facebook accounts, e‑mail inboxes, evening headlines and phone lines carry ominous reports of troubled times ahead in Israel. Our extended Jewish family is under fire. Rockets are raining down in the south, and war looms. And every Jew is asking him or herself: What can I do to help? We have created a section on our website about the Operation Pillar of Defense. Check back for updates.
We look forward to a Chanukah that will be packed with events! Be sure to check it all out especiallywww.chabaduptown.org/cruise and www.chabaduptown.org/snow...
