Let's Purim! (You mean Pesach is also coming?)

Thursday, 10 March, 2011 - 11:18 pm

Dear Friends,

Mazel tov to Rabbi Chaim on the birth and bris of a nephew to his brother Zalmen (of NY)!

coffe macine.jpgThis past Sunday was a fantastic start for our new BLT (Bagels, Lox & Teffilin)! As a BLT perk (along with classes thoughout the week) we now also have a fully stocked Keurig coffee brewed-by-the-cup machine, compliments of Larry Scott! Our next BLT will be in conjunction with Purim on Sunday morning, March 20 at 8 am. Megillah reading to follow at 9 am.

That will be the morning after the grand Uptown Sat. Night Purim Party & Feast to take place on March 19 at Aroma Classique. You do not want to miss the party of the year! Reserve in advance and save! www.chabaduptown.org/purimcafe.

Learn all about Purim and visit our megasite, chock full with recipes, games and multimedia at www.chabaduptown.org/purim.

Reservations are already coming in for our fantastic Pesach seders. Space is very limited and we want to be sure that you, our closest friends, have a seat at our seder.... Last year we unfortunately had to turn away over 30 people for lack of space. If you would like to join us for a seder, please let us know ASAP, before we open registration to the public! The seders this year will be Monday & Tuesday evenings, April 18 & 19. In addition to our fast paced, upbeat, inspirational seder, this year we will also offer a seperate, longer, Seder with in-depth, kabbalistic insights by Matt & Yael Trusch. (Click here for feedback we received after last year's seder).

I have caved. Now Rabbi Chaim and Chabad of Uptown have become two seperate entities on Facebook! "LIKE" Chabad of Uptown and spread the word now at www.facebook.com/youngchabad. (Of course you should also follow us everywhere else, including www.twitter.com/youngchabad.

The Texas Shabbaton was featured in the Jewish Herald Voice and on Chabad.org/News

The Appreciation Dinner is still making waves, as the football themed party and videos now hit the international Chabad.org/news blog, read it here

Our Parsha states, A man who shall bring near of you an offering to G-d (1:2). The verse does not say, "a man of you who shall bring near an offering," but, "a man who shall bring near of you an offering"--the offering must come from within the person. It is the animal within man that must be "brought near" and elevated by the divine fire upon the Altar. (The Chassidic Masters, More at www.chabaduptown.org/parsha)
