Last Chance for Lag B'omer RSVP & Course on Environmental Responsibility

Friday, 30 April, 2010 - 12:52 am

Dear Friends,

What a great week!

  • RC has been getting smoother on the 2 mile jog, thanks to Matt Davis! Join us at 6:30 am on Tuesday mornings for a 2 mile jog, teffilin wrap and a power breakfast to start your day off right!
  • The event for close to 40 young professionals on post Holocaust optimism with guest speaker, Sam Spritzer was inspiring and uplifting. Special thanks to our hosts Ethan Melloul and Aaron Friedman! Chabad's Young Adults & Professionals meet every week on Wed. eve for some socializing, networking and a class on contemporary Jewish topics. Join us or spread the word!
  • Many thanks to the volunteers who came tonight to help setup for the Lag B'omer Jamming Night and preparing the BBQ grub. Thanks to Ady Fisberg, Layn Bowers, Feliks Starikov, Michael Ostrovsky & Riv Yadin, we have it under control!
This Sat. night, May 1 at 9 pm, please join us and enjoy some great music and BBQ. Those who play an instrument and asked to bring your bongos, strings or brass for an amazing night of music, bbq and celebration led and coordinated by live music with Abe Solomon! Register in advance and save $5! More on the Lag B'omer event here. RSVP for the event here!
  • Sunday, May 2, citywide 3-6 pm Lag B'omer Bike Parade and Carnival!
  • Our current JLI Torah Studies course, "Taming Passion" concludes next week as we conclude the book of Vayikra.
The book of Bamidbar (May 6 Thursday lunch hour and eve classes) will introduce a fascinating course, “Cultivating Sensitivity”. It focuses on nature and ecology aspiring to address and present Torah’s view on one of today’s most pressing issues: The Environment and Going Green. Seize the opportunity to hear what the Torah has to say on this topic! You won't regret it! (See promo below)
Here are some of the questions explored in this upcoming course:
What is the basis of environmental responsibility?
What does Torah say about recycling?
Does Judaism offer solutions for the energy crisis?
Is Global Warming a real threat?
What are ways to inspire eco-friendliness?
Should we pursue innovations that harm the environment?
Are there spiritual means that help the environment?
What is the definition of an environmentally sound society?
  • Our new website, www.chaabduptown.org  is up and running. Comments (on design, dead links, oops, etc) and feedback is greatly appreciated.... :)
