To our incredible community!
Of the three holidays that the Torah refers to as pilgrimage holidays, Shavuos can be considered the most important. Although Pesachhas the Seder and Sukkos comes right after the High Holidays, both with their own prominence, Shavuos is the holiday that represents the purpose of it all.
When the Exodus from Egypt took place, Moses stated several times that the goal was for the Jewish people to reach Mount Sinai and receive the Torah from Hashem. This event is commemorated every year on Shavuos, when the Ten Commandments are read from the Torah. We aren’t only marking an event that occurred thousands of years ago, but we are actually reliving those awesome moments of Hashem’s presence descending into the world and instructing us to continue in the paths of our ancestors.
That’s why coming to services on Shavuos is so important for every Jewish person, but it is especially vital for every Jewish child to be present when the Ten Commandments are read. As we re-receive the Torah, we also recommit to our children being the guarantors that Hashem's commandments will continue to be observed.
With our children there, we are assured that our people and our heritage will continue to make waves around the world.
We hope to see you on the Shavuos holiday, especially for this most important part when all women, men and children be present for the reading of the Ten Commandments tomorrow, Wednesday at 11:15 am. RSVP: goo.gl/forms/w7UPvkIwCB.
With wishes for Kabbolas HaTorah Bsimcha Ubpinimiyus, May you receive the Torah this holiday of Shavuos with joy and internally,
Rabbi Chaim & Chanie
