Dear Friends,
Today is a very important date on the Chabad Calendar. If you have been to Chabad, you know that our organization was founded by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Schneerson. The Rebbe was a visionary Jewish leader who inspired thousands of Jews all over the world to fnd meaning in their heritage and holy Torah. (You can learn more about the Rebbe at therebbe.org.) Today is the tenth of Shvat, which is the date, in 1950, that the Rebbe became the leader of the Chabad movement, after the passing of his father-in-law, the previous Rebbe .
This Shabbos takes our family to the Intercollegiate Shabbaton at Texas A&M in College Station. Rabbi Daniel & Eta Cotlar will lead the Shabbaton this Shabbos along with hosting the signature Uptown Shabbat dinner and buffet Kiddush Lunch!
When they’re not enjoying Shabbos at Chabad of Uptown…Daniel leads marketing at Blinds.com, and Eta is a gifted teacher and part of the all-star staff at Torah Day School.
They will be joined by their three children, Nosson, Mendel & Chani.

- You Be the Judge II: An Exhilarating New Exploration of Jewish Civil Law will be offered at Chabad of Uptown with instructor Rabbi Moishe Traxler. Every Tuesday for 6 weeks beginning Feb. 10.
- Just like last year, and every year, Chanie is headed to the International Conference of Chabad Lubavitch Shluchos next Wednesday until Monday. Rabbi Chaim will be holding down the fort and would love for you to join him and keep him company next Shabbos at home....
- Chabad in Houston joined thousands wordwide in over 300 communities for a uniting Hakhel lecture taught by taught by Rabbi Adin Even Yisrael Steinsaltz, a Chabad-Lubavitch Chasid whom Time magazine once referred to as a “once-in-a-millennium scholar.”

The existence of nearly all life on Earth is fueled by light from the sun. Some may call this phenomenon nature. We will gather on April 8th, 2009, and declare otherwise.
