Mindfulness & Meditation Lunch and more

Friday, 2 February, 2024 - 2:44 pm

Yesterday was 22 Shevat, the yahrzeit of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson, of righteous memory—wife of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, and daughter of the previous Rebbe.

An intensely private person who was rarely seen in public, she chose to keep herself out of the limelight while supporting her husband in vital ways behind the scenes. Those who did have the privilege of interacting with her tell of a regal woman with the poise and confidence that extended beyond the walls of her home.

When the Rebbetzin passed away in 1988, the Rebbe spoke about her silent contributions to his leadership of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement, and how we can all learn from the many facets of her life. He encouraged new institutions to be built bearing her name, each impacting another part of the world in memory of this special woman.

Most notably are schools and mikvahs around the world, which to this day continue to be established, ensuring that the legacy of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka lives on in the perpetuation of Jewish continuity and education. Although the Rebbe and Rebbetzin had no biological children of their own, every Jew that was touched by their influence can be counted among the myriads of their spiritual children—including those who were indirectly impacted by the vast reach of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement.

Held annually around the Rebbetzin's yartzeit, Chanie joins 4,000 Chabad-Lubavitch shluchos and guests from across the globe as they renew, recharge and reinvigorate each other. You too can join Chanie virtually on Sunday, beginning 4 pm (Houston time), at the closing banquet ceremony of the largest annual convention of Jewish women leaders in the world! www.chabaduptown.org/kinus

May her memory be a blessing, and may we very soon be reunited with all our departed ancestors and teachers, with the coming of Moshiach!

Good Shabbos!

Rabbi Chaim & Chanie
