December 1, 7-9pm - Hineni Houston at United Way

Jewish Federation of Greater Houston is embarking on an ambitious initiative: Hineni Houston - Come and Be Heard. We are here to listen to what’s on your minds and in your hearts as members of Houston’s Jewish community.

What is Hineni Houston?

It is a community-wide initiative that will engage up to 1000 Houstonians in conversations to imagine and co-create Jewish life in Houston that is joyful, meaningful, and relevant for ALL of us, no matter where or how we live our Jewish lives. Our goal is to understand the “heart of the matter” in terms of what activates Houston’s Jewish potential now and into the future.

Federation is launching Hineni Houston to add to our collective understanding of the aspirations for the future of Jewish Houston by bringing in your stories, your hopes and dreams, and your perspective. Your vital input, combined with quantitative data from recent survey results and population studies, will contribute strategic decisions around the Federation’s role as the convener and connector of Jewish Houston.

A “Listening Lab” of 50+ Community Volunteers and Federation staff members are leading this effort October 2022 through January 2023. In January, we will crystalize our insights and share them with you, our community.

We want to hear your voice!!

You ar e invited to join a Hineni Houston Listening Forum geared for people who live in the inner loop (Heights, Montrose, River Oaks, Rice Military etc.) co-hosted by the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston and  Chabad of Uptown on December 1 at United Way from 7-9pm. To RSVP click HERE.

About Listening Forums

In a Listening Forum, those in the room together will co-create the conversation agenda around a particular theme – in our case “What are your aspirations for Houston’s Jewish Community, now and in the future?” Anyone can name and convene a small group conversation on a topic related to this core question. Some examples might include:

  • I want to talk about ways to generate more Jewish life in far suburbs.
  • I want to talk about making Jewish life more affordable.
  • I want to talk about creating service opportunities for our high school kids in day school and public school.

The notes on each topic will be shared with our Listening Lab so that your perspectives are included in defining what is important to this community, now and for the future.

We invite you to take advantage of this opportunity to come together as a community to articulate a future we all want and need!
