We are sorry! Last week we left off the link to the pics from the community Purim party "in the Shtetl". We know how badly y'all want to see them, so here it is! (Of course, if it you missed it, you may also want to see the epic YJP Purim at the Rodeo pics as well!)
This week we take out two Torahs, as we read what is (according to many) a Biblically mandated Torah reading of Parah, in addition to weekly Torah reading, this week Shemini. Parah details the laws of the "Red Heifer" and the process by which a person rendered ritually impure by contact with a dead body was purified. When the Holy Temple stood in Jerusalem, every Jew had to be in a state of ritual purity in time for the bringing of the Passover offering in the Temple. Today, though we're unable to fulfill the Temple-related rituals in practice, we fulfill them spiritually by studying their laws in the Torah.
