Today, 19 Tammuz is my Jewish (real) birthday. One's mazal is strong on a birthday. I would like to wish each and every one of you with Jewish nachas (pride) from yourself, family & friends. Health and prosperity physically and spiritually. May you overcome all of your challenges and achieve your loftiest goals! I will be hosting a farbrengen (for men only) at 9 pm tonight after the Tanya clas at 8pm. I fuly understand if your schedule does not allow you to attend.

All the kids started camp this week, Mendel in upstate Michigan and the rest are locally flying high - atC.G.I.!

Our condolences to Robert Epstein on the passing of his granddaughter Rosalyn Perci Scharf at the tender age of 32 years old. May Hashem comfort the esteemed family among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

Father's Day vs Mother's Day

The kids have had a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time with their visiting cousins, the Rosenfeld's (Rabbi Chaim's sister), from Melbourne, Australia...

Musings of the week: On Father's Day, fathers spend time with their children. On Mother's Day, children spend time with their mothers. Solution? Fathers should spend more time with their kids all year, mothers should be pampered all year.

770 with josh neuman.jpg Chaya Mushka joined me (Rabbi Chaim) along with tens of thousands (including our dear Josh Neuman) for a visit to 770 and the Ohel, to commemorate the Rebbe's 19th yartzeit this past Tuesday, Gimmel Tammuz. As I spent many hours in study and in line for a chance to spend a few minutes at the Ohel on this auspicious day, I recalled the reason why the Rebbe touched me and so many others so deeply.

While being the most non-judgmental loving human being, he also demanded the greatest potential from each person who crossed his path. This dual loving, yet strong, hand inspires so many to achieve great things they never thought imaginable. He reminded us, often without saying a word, that we have the potential to become focused and inspired people. He made us realize that it is possible for us to become what we are supposed to be - images of G-d, here to make His world a holy place.

One such person is our Gabbai. Dr. Alan Croock truly took on a character of a loving gabbai, welcoming each and every person who crossed the threshold of our shul with a calm and peaceful demeanor. We are so happy for Alan & Chagit's opportunity to make aliya to Israel. Please join us at our L'chaim for our Gabbai on June 23! If You are going to be out for that Sunday, you are welcome to join one of the four Shabbatons in his honor as well. Sunday is Rosh Chodesh and we will have a weekday minyan on Sunday morning at 8:30 am. Please respond if we can count on you for the minyan.
This Tuesday marks the 19th yarzteit of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, the visionary and inspiration behind all that makes Chabad of Uptown tick. Thousands will visit the Rebbe's resting place (called “the Ohel”) on this auspicous date of Gimmel Tammuz. I will be in New York as well, joining many thousands of people from across the globe who will be visiting on this auspicious day, as is customary when we commemorate the Yartzeit of a righteous person.
It would be an honor and pleasure to pray for you (and your family), as well, at the Rebbe's "Ohel." Please e-mail your name and your mother's name (preferably the Hebrew or Yiddish names), and those of anyone else you would like me to mention, I would be glad to have them in mind as well. If there's a specific need you would like me to pray for, please mention it as well. May all our prayers be fulfilled.
