Based on the feedback we received from our Hebrew Reading and Language Open House , we understand that most participants are already somewhat familiar with the Hebrew letters and are now looking to:
- Practice reading with vowels
- Deepen comprehension of basic Hebrew word structure
- Explore roots, prefixes, suffixes, gender distinctions, and verb tenses
To meet these goals, we are excited to introduce a curriculum called “Hebrew Scouts.” This 8-part program, one unit per Hebrew vowel, was originally designed for children but has been successfully adapted for learners of all ages, from college students to seniors.
Chabad of Uptown and YJP Houston will be offering this course, taught by Rabbi Yosef Cohen and a team of volunteers, over 12 weeks, starting Sunday, November 16th, and running through February 1st. Classes will be held weekly on Sundays at 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
For those who are not yet familiar with the Hebrew letters, we are happy to offer one-on-one sessions ahead of the course to help you get comfortable and ready to participate.
Cost:
- Free for Chabad of Uptown members and Monthly Chai Club supporters
- $36 for the full 12-week course for all others

We hope you’ll join us for this exciting opportunity to build your Hebrew reading and language skills in a warm, supportive environment.
