Cteen, Purim 🤡 Much

We are off!!! CTeen Houston will be well represented at the CTeen International Shabbaton with 2500 representatives from around the world!  This years highlights include havdalah—a ceremony which separates the day of Shabbat from the working week—with Jewish rapper Nissim Black, and a grand banquet at Brooklyn’s Pier 12. Additionally, CTeen is also taking part in the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s Torah campaign; all participants will be encouraged to participate in having their own letter written in a Unity Torah, which will be completed in Israel.

This being the Shabbat before Purim, on which we celebrate the foiling of Haman with the Zachor reading.

Next week is Purim!!! Complete schedule below! Now is the last minute!!!

PLEASE register for the Wed. Mystery Dinner, Thurs. Under the Sea and / or Friday FCYA Shabbat - so we can plan accordingly.

RSVP for any other events or megillah readings you may be joining by replying to this email.

Zachor

When the Israelites left Egypt, no nation dared pick a fight with them. Only Amalek, driven by profound hatred which defied logic, came to wage battle. more...

Purim Is Not Normal

Purim is nuts. A rational person cannot celebrate Purim, nor can those who believe they know who they are. Because the joy of Purim means leaving all reason and sense of self behind.  more...

How to stop the carnage?

I have received many questions of "what can I do to stop the carnage"?

Unfortunately, the repeated cycle is: Tragedy. Politicize. Polarize. Status quo. Repeat.

The Rebbe taught that there is one way to ensure that a child grows up to be decent and upright: He must be taught to begin each day by acknowledging the fact that there is a Super-being, the Creator, Who wants this world to be governed by morality and holiness. He must know that there is a One Above that is beyond every human being, yet is a personal One Who is aware of everything the child does. - Watch and read these poignant talks and articles, directly from and based on the teachings of the Rebbe, expounding the value and importance of the Moment of Silence.

When Adar enters, we add in joy! Chabad will host abundant joy with Purim parties everywhere you turn!

You don't want to miss the Purim events held at Chabad of Uptown and YJP Houston! RSVP now!

Largest group of women leaders

cteen shabbaton meeting.jpegAmazing pre-game meeting for the awesome CTeen Shabbaton coming up! We will join 2500 CTeeners from 300 cities and 17 countries!

This Sunday, at 4:30 pm, watch the live stream of the banquet for the largest community of women leaders in the world at the International Conference of Chabad-Lubavitch Shluchos! www.chabaduptown.org/kinus

This Shabbos is "Shabbat Shekalim". In the times of the Beis Hamikdash, each Jew contributed an annual half-shekel to the Temple. The 1st of Adar marked the beginning of the collection of the shekalim. In commemoration, the Torah reading of the Shabbat that falls before Adar a second Torah is read of the verses (Exodus 30:11-16) that relate Hashem's commandment to Moshe regarding the first giving of the half-shekel.
