Some of the victims were visiting the Western Wall to pray; some were driving their kids; others were simply heading off to work. One child was riding his bicycle.

In this critical time, we all ask:

What can I do for Israel? How can I help my brothers and sisters in the Holy Land?

Here are seven things you can do NOW to help for the safety and health of our brethren in Israel.

One Classmate in Texas Memorializes the Life of Another Through Song

Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014 is a day that will always be remembered with sadness for the student body of the close-knit Torah Day School in Houston. On that day, they were told that seventh-grader Mendel Cotlar had suddenly lost his life from unexpected complications from GSD-1A, a metabolic disease. Only three weeks beforehand, they had sang and danced with him at his bar mitzvah celebration. more...

Should We Hate Terrorists?

150 souls danced, sang and got their joy on for Simchas Torah, like a Jewish boss - (video)! We are so lucky to have y'all as part of our amazing community with overflowing blessings, crowds and good times for all... May all the brochos shared in the Simchas Torah auction be fulfilled!

The Shabbat after Simchat Torah is Shabbat Bereishit -- "Shabbat of Beginning" -- the first Shabbat of the annual Torah reading cycle, on which the Torah section of Bereishit ("In the Beginning") is read. The weekly Torah reading is what defines the Jewish week, serving as the guide and point of reference for the week's events, deeds and decisions; Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi called this "living with the times." Hence the theme and tone of this week is one of beginning and renewal, as we launch into yet another cycle of Torah life. The Rebbes of Chabad would say: "As one establishes oneself on Shabbat Bereishit, so goes the rest of the year." Related: Beginnings

We will have our monthly Rosh Chodesh Shacharis for Cheshvan & breakfast on Tuesday morning at 6:45 am. Please confirm your attendance.

All classes are now back on track. Here is the weekly schedule:

  • Sunday: Tefillin club at 8:30
  • Tuesday: Parsha at 12:00 pm
  • Tuesday: JLI New 6-week Course at 7:30 pm - Oct. 13-Nov. 17
Journey of the Soul: An Exploration of Life, Death, and What Lies Beyond
  • Wednesday: 8 pm young professionals dinner, class & social.
This week's topic: Should We Hate Terrorists?
  • Thursday: Tanya Lunch Hour 12 pm (optional $10 lunch)
  • Thursday: Tanya 8 pm
  • Shabbos: Chassidus / Kabbalistic Parsha Insights at 9 am
(except Shabbos Mevarchim, like this week, that has Tehillin at 8:30 am)

May Hashem keep our brethren in Israel safe and secure. Please do a mitzvah to help them spiritually.
