Please help us reach the fifth son!

Please Participate in our Pesach Campaign!

Your support and partnership is vital

Dear Friends,

In one week we will sit with family and friends at the Seder table to celebrate the holiday of Passover. There is scant a Jew in the world who does not mark the significance of Passover in some way, giving a special meaning to the holiday celebrating our freedom as a nation.

Chabad of Uptown has been on the forefront of promoting Jewish pride, inspiration and education in the Galleria, River Oaks and Memorial areas. Our vibrant, well attended, Young Professional and student groups, holiday programs and classes are testament to the impact Chabad has made.

Yet, as many people as we have touched, there remain many thousands of local Jews for whom Judaism plays a minor part in their life. Until we have reached them and inspired them to explore their precious heritage we are not fulfilling our mission.

Therefore, we turn to you, our dear friends, to help us utilize this most auspicious time of the Jewish calendar year to bring inspiration to the Jewish community for the holiday of Passover. Let us tap in to the Jewish spark that is ignited during the holiday of Passover and turn it in to a roaring passionate flame.

Please support our Passover activities by sending your generous contribution to Chabad of Uptown, 4311 Bettis Drive, Houston, TX 77027 or donate online at www.chabadtexas.org/uptowndonate.

With blessings for a Happy and Kosher Pesach,

Rabbi Chaim & Chanie

P.S. Chabad's mission is to reach the "fifth son" who is not yet at the seder table. Although our first seder is completely full, we still have room at our second seder. If you or someone you know is need of a seder, please let us know! You can volunteer as well to help prepare for the communal seder. Please call Chanie at 713-419-3962 to see how you can get involved!

Heifer reading and Pesach is coming!

Dear Friends,

This week, Parshas Ki Sisa marks another special Torah reading (of which some say it is also Biblically mandated) - Parshas Parah.

The Torah reading of Parah (Numbers 19) is added to the weekly reading. Parah details the laws of the "Red Heifer" and the process by which a person rendered ritually impure by contact with a dead body was purified.

(When the Holy Temple stood in Jerusalem, every Jew had to be in a state of ritual purity in time for the bringing of the Passover offering in the Temple. Today, though we're unable to fulfill the Temple-related rituals in practice, we fulfill them spiritually by studying their laws in the Torah. Thus, we study and read the section of Parah in preparation for the upcoming festival of Passover.)

Wednesday evening Young Professionals class is going strong, join the hottest group in town! 8:30-9:30 pm.

Thursday classes are also on schedule for midday lunch 12 pm and another in the evening at 8 pm.

Chanie has been busy getting the Chabad House ready for Pesach and we have been upgrading the kitchen for Pesach with some new fixtures. Sponsorships are available! :)
